I’ve learned a lot of lessons over the years, but none so important as understanding momentum in both life and business.

When I traveled the world with Tony Robbin as a Platinum Partner, one of the first lessons he told me was:

“Success leaves clues…”

The clues are all around us – hidden within our competitors, in other industries, and yes, even in our own businesses.

The information is right in front of us; we just have to know how to look for the clues.

For every success story, you can first ask yourself a simple question:

“How does this apply to my business?”

…Not whether it applies, but HOW it applies (again, success leaves clues – and you can find lessons in every success – no matter the industry or size of the company).

The biggest clue of all, however, isn’t specific to any one company or industry…

If you’re like Jeff Bezos, running a mega-billion retail giant, there are clues you can find in Starbucks and your local hardware store…

But before we get too far ahead of ourselves, let’s backtrack a minute.

Imagine you’re going camping, and the only way to make a fire is by rubbing two sticks together…

It takes a lot of effort to generate enough friction to get just the tiniest smoke. You crank away, making your muscles ache… And eventually, the tiniest little red ember shows up.

From there, most of the work is done!

A couple of gentle breaths, some tinder, and soon that ember becomes a raging fire…

So what does this mean?

The ember represents MOMENTUM. It’s the potential for a giant, roaring flame.

So – back to business. The big clue that so many entrepreneurs overlook is:

The power of momentum.

They’ve done the work to create an ember but don’t recognize that it’s the best source of growth – it just needs some fanning and a few pieces of tinder!

Instead of focusing on the red-hot ember they’ve already got, they jump from strategy to strategy, looking for the next big thing – and
overlook the source of power right in front of them!

If nothing else, remember this:

If you wonder why aren’t growing fast enough… You don’t have a strategy problem. You have a momentum problem.

If you have customers, you have momentum. Growing your business is a matter of identifying what’s already working, and doing more of it!

When you build a fire, you don’t keep on creating embers – that’s a huge waste of energy! Instead, you tend the ember you have… Adding fuel until the fire is blazing.

Find out what’s working RIGHT NOW, and concentrate your efforts there.

That includes how you’re generating traffic and leads…

…Your products and services that are selling best…

…The types of customers and clients that stick with you the longest…

…The ways you’re converting leads to sales…

Anything that’s already working is a source of momentum.

Professor JC Larreche says:

“Momentum leaders are not lucky – they are smart. They have discovered the source of momentum and, with it, the beginnings of a smarter way to exceptional growth…“

It’s all about stoking the flames that are already burning inside of your business.

Write down the things that are working, and invest your energy there.

Newton’s laws say that an object in motion will stay in motion, and an object at rest will stay at rest. Focus on the areas of your business that are already moving, and watch your growth turn into a wildfire.

In your corner,

Charlie
